Types of Bonds

Cash Bail

Cash bail comes into play when the defendant's family places the amount of bail, in it's entirety, to the jail and secures the defendant's release in that manner rather than obtaining the services of a bondsman. Generally, this must be placed as cash or certified check.

Surety Bond

Surety Bonds are an alternative to placing the amount of bail in full with the jail. Often times considered more affordable, Bondsmen charge the defendant's family no more than 15% of the bail amount. The process entails the signing of a civil contract in which the person signing accepts responsibility for the defendant's appearance in court.

Property Bond

A family may place property as collateral with the jail in place of a bond or cash bail. Generally, an attorney is required for this process and if the defendant fails to appear for court, generally, the courts may foreclose on the property taken as collateral.
